Patent Bar Review FAQs

What are your Patent Bar Review payment methods?

We accept VISA, MasterCard, American Express, and Personal or Corporate Checks. Additionally, ACH and Wire Transfers of funds may be arranged. We do not accept purchase orders.

I know nothing about patent law. Is your Bar Review Course suitable for me?

Yes. Our materials are designed with the express purpose of assisting you in passing the USPTO Exam, but it is our goal to teach you patent law in the process, so that once you pass, you will be an effective patent attorney or agent.

Once I place my Patent Bar Review Course order, when should I expect to receive my materials?

Once your order is processed, the printed materials are shipped via FedEx Ground Service; delivery takes between 2-7 business days depending upon your location. Access to the on-demand lectures and ExamWare™ takes effect from the date of purchase.

How do I obtain CLE credit for my Classroom Bar Review Course?

Please provide your active CLE information (states and bar ID numbers) when registering for your course. This will allow PRG to apply for CLE state approval in a timely manner and avoid incurring late fees.  If your state is a mandatory CLE state, we will have forms for you to pick up or complete on the morning break of the last day of class.

Do any of the Bar Review Course study materials have to be returned to PRG?

No, all printed instructional materials are yours to keep.

How much time should I set aside to study with your Bar Review Course?

This is a difficult question to answer as each student has differing time constraints and methods of study. The materials are very comprehensive, yet very straightforward. When you register, we send to you a packet of information that details all the Course materials and how to approach your Exam preparation.

It is highly recommended that you schedule and take the USPTO Exam within 3-4 months of completing your course.

At the Classroom Bar Review Course, are questions permitted?

Yes, at designated times. As there is a lot of material to cover, instructors do not permit questions during the lectures, but questions of all types are permitted during breaks and instructors are also available after class for questions. Approximately 1 week prior to your course, you will receive information via email regarding the Question and Answer format at the course.

If I attend a Classroom Bar Review Course, is it necessary to bring all the materials I was shipped with me?

No. Approximately one week prior to your live course, you will receive an email with further course details (what to bring with you, meeting room name, registration and break schedule, as well as other information).

If I purchase the On-Demand Bar Review Course and have questions, will they be addressed?

Yes. You may submit questions via e-mail: Please note that it may take several days to respond, but all questions are answered.

How are updates to your Bar Review materials handled?

We continually monitor USPTO announcements and notify you of substantive changes and keep our materials up-to-date as you prepare for the exam, including continually adding new questions to our data bank of exam questions in ExamWare® and updating the on-demand course.

For how long do I have access to the on-demand lectures and ExamWare®?

Access to the course is available for 1 year from the date of purchase, but with the PRG Guarantee, as long as you are actively studying, we will provide access to the material and any updates until you pass the exam.

If I encounter technical difficulties with the ExamWare® questions or On-Demand Course, what should I do?

Can I register for the live classroom course at the door?

Registration for Courses: Registration forms are available in PRG brochures and on this website. All registrations, to be complete, must be accompanied by the tuition fee, payable by check or credit card authorization (VISA, MasterCard and American Express are accepted). Telephone registrations are not accepted and there will be no registration at the door for any course. Registrations will be accepted in the order of receipt at PRG’s office and are limited by supplies of instructional materials and by the capacity of available lecture hall facilities.

How do I know when I am registered?

After you complete the registration process, you will immediately receive your emailed receipt, which will contain payment information as well as course information. Please keep this receipt for your records.  Without that confirmation email, no person should assume that he or she has been accepted for the course.

You will also receive an automated email from the ExamWare® site, providing the URL and login instructions with a temporary password for use of the on-demand training and the exam preparation software. We recommend that you change your password when you login the first time.

Can I transfer to another live classroom course?

If you wish to cancel your Classroom participation, you may do so up until seven (7) business days prior to your course start date.  You may either transfer to a different Patent Bar Review course live session to occur within 1 year of your original course date or you may opt to transfer to the On-Demand course only.

If you do not contact our office to cancel your classroom participation, you will be automatically transferred to the On-Demand course only.

Can I get a refund?

If you’d like a refund you must provide written notice to within 7 days of your registration date. You must also return all course materials to the PRG office at 2318 Mill Road, 12th Floor, Alexandria, VA 22314 with a postage date within 5 days of your written refund request date. If you accessed the online course or ExamWare® or if you do not return the course materials in a timely manner you are not eligible for a refund. All refunds will be assessed a $25 cancellation fee. If you’d like to transfer this registration to another person within your organization or to another course, please contact us.

How do I obtain the posted PRG hotel room rate?

Please be sure to identify yourself as a Patent Resources Group attendee when making your room reservation. Please contact our office if you encounter difficulties in the room reservation process.

Is there a dress code?

No, most attendees dress casually. Please be aware that as classroom temperatures are often difficult to regulate, it may be prudent to pack a light sweater or sweatshirt.

Is lunch provided?

No. A continental breakfast, mid-morning beverage break, and an afternoon beverage and food break are provided.
