Timothy W. Hagan is a partner with Dinsmore & Shohl, LLP, in Dayton, OH. His practice areas include intellectual property law, patent law, and litigation. He was a co-recipient of the Robert C. Watson Award of the American Patent Law Association (1976) for the best student-authored paper of importance to the patent system. Mr. Hagan was a patent examiner at the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office for four years, during which time he served as a law clerk to the Board of Appeals and examined applications in the fields of inorganic chemistry, analytical chemistry, and chemical reaction apparatus. He has substantial experience in practice before the U.S. International Trade Commission and was an adjunct professor of law at the University of Dayton School of Law from 1982-1997. Mr. Hagan was Law Clerk and Technical Advisor to the Hon. Jack R. Miller, Judge, U.S. Court of Customs and Patent Appeals, from 1976-1978. He was listed in
The Best Lawyers in America (1991-2005) and named Ohio Super Lawyer by
Law & Politics Media. Mr. Hagan is proud to have been on the PRG faculty for the past 14 years (since 1992). He received a B.S. in Chemical Engineering from Cornell University (1972) and his J.D. from Georgetown University Law Center (1975), where he was Editor for Law and Policy in International Business. He is admitted to practice in Ohio and Maryland, the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Ohio, and the Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit, and is registered to practice before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office.
