Mr. Hemphill is a partner in the Intellectual Property and Technology practice group at Dorsey & Whitney's Minneapolis office. He practices in the area of intellectual property, including acquisition of patent, trademark, copyright and trade secret rights; licensing or other transfers of technology and intellectual property rights, particularly for computer hardware and software businesses, publishing/entertainment businesses and authors; and litigation concerning intellectual property rights and unfair competition.

He is a graduate of the University of Michigan Law School (J.D., 1975, cum laude, Staff Member, University of Michigan Journal of Law Reform, 1973-1974), the University of Michigan (M.A., 1972, Computer and Communication Sciences), and the University of Illinois (A.B., Political Science; B.S., Electrical Engineering, 1970, with highest honors).

Mr. Hemphill is admitted to practice in Minnesota and before the US Patent and Trademark Office.
