Bart Giddings is a partner at the Salt Lake City, UT office of Stoel Rives, and counsels biotechnology, pharmaceutical, and medical device companies on intellectual property matters, including the strategic creation and management of patent portfolios. He has special expertise with patent issues unique to biopharmaceuticals and small molecule drug products. His practice includes transactions involving IP assets of life science companies, competitive intelligence, and Hatch-Waxman issues. Prior to joining Stoel Rives, Dr. Giddings was chief patent counsel at a biopharmaceutical company.

Dr. Giddings is a lecturer for the Patent Resources Group's Reexamination and Reissue Practice course. He has served since 2003 as an Adjunct Professor at the University of Utah's S.J. Quinney College of Law. He lectures at conferences and workshops on a variety of patent-related topics, most frequently on issues related to pharmaceutical patents. Dr. Giddings earned his Ph.D. in biology from M.I.T. (1994) and his law degree from Stanford Law School (1997). He is listed in Best Lawyers in America. He is admitted to practice before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office, state and federal courts in Utah, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit, and the U.S. Supreme Court.
