Your Patent Law Career: A Program to Prepare New Associates and Third-Year Law Students for Their Careers
New dates and locations coming soon.
PRG is very excited to offer this program, which is brand new for 2010, in partnership with Buchanan Ingersoll & Rooney PC. This 4-day program for new practitioners and graduating law students is chock-full of tips and techniques on how to manage and further their careers. Attendees will sign up for this offering as an entire program, rather than for specific days or events.
The rigorous program features a course on best practices in patent prosecution and focuses on practical insights that are not taught in law school, but are developed after decades of practice. The program also includes face-to-face meetings with two respected leaders in the patent field.
The schedule of events includes:
- Best Practices in Patent Prosecution (1.5 days) -- This course teaches a structured approach to preparing a patent application that incorporates quality control measures to avoid common mistakes made in many litigated patents. This established approach guides a new associate or law student through preparation of the various sections in an orderly and connected structure and provides a consistent plan whereby each section may be reviewed and edited before proceeding, to prevent carrying of errors from section to section.
- Career Wisdom from Leading Patent Attorneys (0.5 days) – How to manage your career, balance your lifestyle, and achieve your professional goals
- Personal visit with Hon. David Kappos, Under Secretary of Commerce and Director of USPTO
- Personal Visit with Hon. Randall R. Rader, Circuit Judge and next Chief Judge of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit – Will include attendance at a court hearing at the Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit and discussions with the judge.
